Tire
Tire is 80 km distance to Izmir, is still the old traditions live town. Before going there I was expecting typical Aegean settlement, but it has different ambience than I thought. This was nice surprise to me, I enjoyed being in Tire. First thing if you are hungry having Tire meatball at the center of Tire. Tire meatball cooking on the shish with butter on ember than serving with a yoghurt and tomato. It might be heavy for some people.

After lunch, we wanted to see Karambol game which is playing only here. The most common and interesting play of the old days, today rarely plays in a few places. During II. Beyazıt time some Jewish people came to Turkey and placed around Aydin and mostly Tire. These people met to Tire residents with Karambol. Today you can see this game, the largest place in Tire Alay Park.
Game playing similar balls with billiard balls, with special technique the ball direct to the target. Name of ball is “Oak” the most popular is making from box tree. This tree is very resistant the box tree can use 50-60 years. Also other balls made from wood the name is “lek” put somewhere on the playing field to use as small targets. Players sometimes polish their oak ball with velvet or put in to olive oil for a few days to rest. Play floor is 4 × 12-meters polished concrete. The game played by two or accompanied by 4 people. The goal of the game is by hitting to take balls named lek.

There is still continuoproduction of saddle, horseshoe, hand made ladder shoes. To take photo of them you should go in to narrow streets. First we sow a saddle producer he said that this business going to die because of less demand. He gave us a few pose to take photos. It was sad to hear that he was going to close his shop in the near future, because of not making money. I think we’re doing an important job at that moment probably when we come next year, shops will not be here and today will be history. I was in a little twist, technology is good, but destroyer traditional life. There is felt maker at the same street but he doesn’t produce at all even he produce souvenir for tourists like carpets, rugs. On side of this shop there is a coppersmith, but there is no fire, unfortunately we were unable to take photo. If you want see this place it is on the back street of Is Bank. If you go to in side of the district you will see very nice old houses. You feel your self like walking in open-air museum. One floor houses in the garden, each of them painted to different color, they still standing like in our childhood time, women chatting in front of the door and drinking tea, the girls jump rope, children ride bicycle on the streets. These are taken away me to my childhood for a while.

We saw a shop in the street there 3 men were making quilt like in old days. They given us many poses to take their photos. We promised them to send their photos. Just on the way to turn home we have seen a blacksmith shop. But there were no horse we learned that people were coming there only when they come to bazaar in Tire. It is waiting for the next time to take photos. Tire bazaar is very famous many people come there for shopping even from Izmir. After shopping there is one nice place to eat something the name is Derekahve. Water comes from the middle of this place on the sides under the trees some places to eat something. You should visit to Tire it will take you to old days.
