Sille
Seemed we will go to somewhere again. However, where we were going to see it was wondered places for us. But the home market did not match the account of weather conditions due to rain, even we returned home after 2 days before then planed time. At the beginning of feast holiday 5 friends have set to go Friday night towards Konya. All reservations have been made, had received tickets for the Sema Ceremony. Tremendously excited to watch the ritual was considered.

Before sunrise we reached to Konya and went immediately to the hotel and have some sleep. Unfortunately we can’t recommend you stay this time the hotel which we stayed . In fact, do not make same mistake as we did, please do not stay Bella hotel. The price was high for this neglected hotel. We paid $30 per person but when you flash out siphon there were no water, central heating was not working. We stayed 2 nights at the hotel I think we’ve changed our room 4 times. But the hotel location is very nice near the Mevlana Museum. Maybe unknown by many people, but everybody can accommodate at the teacher’s hotels they are very clean and comfortable. There are one teacher hotel in Konya Karatay phone 0332 351 2265, and the other in Meram phone 0332 350 9647. Who read this from out of Turkey if you sent to me e-mail I can contact for you to stay at these cheap and clean hotels. Price per person per night including breakfast 20 usd.
In the morning at 09:00 am we went to Sille which the place 8 km from the center of Konya. This was an old Greek Village, but now it is neighborhood of Konya. We were very hungry we went to a nice cafe which is name Sille Konak. It is very nice-looking restaurant. Sille Konak very pretty space, inside and out side was built from the wood was built, in the middle of hall a big cast stove and fried breads on it. We made great open buffet breakfast with egg and Turkish sausage per person only 7 usd. The owner of cafe was very soft-spoken Mrs. Havva, was very friendly.

To make this statement Mrs. Havva said that she sold everything what belong to her. She says for the foreigners generally Jony’s, at the beginning Jony’s were visiting here but they don’t come to much she said. This cafe do not deserve to be empty because it is very good place. There is also possible to accommodate $40 per person including breakfast. Even the next morning, we came to this Sille Konak from Konya to have breakfast only. If you go to Konya I recommend you to go there to see a different atmosphere, Telephone: 0332 244 9260 or 0537 719 9436 Mrs. Havva.

Although a very small place, Sille has very old history. Within the limits of today’s neighborhoods Ak Monastery (today to it is within the limits military zone can not be visited), Hagia Eleni Church (MS 371, dated), there was an old dam, with the current name of the bridge is the devil door. Cemetery is also very interesting here, it gave me feeling that this cemetery belong to very old times. If you look at the appearance of the grave stones it is like a period before the Ottoman. There is a very beautiful coffee in the square of village, you should drink tea, people are very congenial here, and when the people sow cameras they thought that we are the TV crew. You will se at the square an old bath and on top of it caves. There is small village name Tat. It is 7 km to Sille. However, before coming to the village you will see small lake on your left side. It is used as a picnic area. Village takes a few km more from the lake. This village with different architectural structures like a place of Stone Age houses are associated. The purple color of the roofs and houses covered with stones. Like southeastern Anatolia, as well as flat roofs. In the streets a lot of kids with flowing nose mucus. They are very curios to talk with you, not just children’s also their parents are very friendly. If you ask me Tat Village should have seen.
In the evening we return to Konya for Sema ceremony. Before ceremony you have to taste very delicious Konya “etli ekmek” (bread with meat). I suggest you to go Yildiz Restaurant. This restaurant is near to “Sifa Restaurant” in the center. After dinner we went to ceremony place this was special ceremony because of “Seb-i Aruz” week. Everything was beautiful, except ugly lights in the place. They were very shiny and block us to take photo. The meaning of Sema ceremony of the human towards truth and understanding, the sublime with love and leave soul to return the god. Whirling Dervishes hat (which calls as sikke in Turkish) is their self grave stone and the white color clothe (which means tennure in Turkish) symbolize shroud of them. By cross-linking arms, apparently representing number one, so that they confirm there is only one god, while they turn with the right hand to heaven and left hand to land. This means they take from the god with right hand, give to human with their left hand. I can say this much about Sema ceramony, I couldn’t see much because I was busy taken photos while the ceremony.
