Ten years ago, after 17 August earthquake one September evening, I decided to fly San Francisco to leave there for a while. I was planning a little long-term trip and it happened as I was planned. During my 6 months in San Francisco, I sow many places, in California and made a lot of friends. It is interesting, except my teacher in language school I didn’t have a American friend in America. Many parts of America but especially in the area of California there are many people from South America and Far East. My friends were from Japan, Korea, China, Mexica, Peru,Spain and Maccao.

I stayed in San Francisco Bay Area, called San Mateo. It takes half an hour by train to go center. Amtrak train which comes every half an hour, between San Francisco and the Bay Area. If you do not have a car in America is not easy to overcome the distance. When cheap oil and a high purchasing power come together this brings one car to every house at list. While I have been there a tank of gas 45 lt you could full to 10 $, I do not think now is very different. If you are a tourist there you must choose to walk, as much as you can do. Because every where in San Francisco has different beauty and you can discover this while you walk. If you come to top one of his famous hill and turn your face to the ocean, start walking end of this road you will be in Fishermen’s Wharf. This is one of my favorite places. In the coastal ocean there is beautiful and interesting gift shops restaurants are ranked in a long street. I recommend you to drink crab soup here. This soup serve in custom made bread they take out the inside of the bread and filled with crab soup. Do not say that you can’t drink it, crab is quite tasty, I learned this in America. There is a person in the street holding a bush in his hand and calling him self-Bushman, he is hiding behind a big bush and moving when a person walks from his side. Many people are screaming and some of them laughing when they see him. This is the way he is earning his life.

Pier 39 one the place necessarily to be seen at the end of Fishermen’s Wharf, this place was built on the ocean, small boats on the sides and with small places to eat something is a pretty place. I think beauty is all the wood comes from. You will see on the side of Pier 39 sea lions. Sea lions were very touristy, they allow you to go near to them with photo machines and also allow you to take photos. This fishes were cute for us but they are nightmare for fishermen, because they catch their hunted fishes from their nets.

When you look up from the Fishermen Wharf you will see Coit Tower building. You can walk there and go to the hill and enjoy the landscape of San Francisco, you can also go to the in side of tower after taking beautiful pictures. Coit Tower has been built to, Telegraph Hill in 1933 by a San Francisco lover, it is 63 m. I can not say something very interesting in the tower, at least it was like this for me, but as I wrote above it is good place for a panoramic photo.
Beginning of Fishermen’s Wharf last stop of the Cable Car which is icon of San Francisco. Still, as in the old days when the Cable Car comes to last stop people forces on the rails and turn it back into the hill streets of the city. Cable Car and a city tour are very enjoyable to do, when the car goes slowly over the hill and when stop in the middle of it you will be able to see famous Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz prison. There are ferries goes from Fishermen’s Wharf to Alcatraz which is famous that nobody could run away from this prison. It is not a nice please but should visit. There are a lot of sharks around here therefore nobody could escape from here. Without spending much time here let’s go to the one of famous city streets Market. Here you will see homeless people you have never seen this much together before. All of them have a market basket in their hands there are dogs or cats in it and blanket, you will see them resting on the sidewalk. State gives them aid 400 $ per month, but most of them medication or drug addict they spend this money almost in one day. You must be careful when walking in this street because you can step to human stool on the sidewalk. I hear that you say “is this place to have fun,” of course this is not fun, these views totally up side down strong America icon in my brain. Nice side of Market Street a lot famous shops you can find here together. Specially Rose shop, you can find here any kind of brand. You can buy very cheap here the most famous brands, the reason being cheap there is only one from this good or it has a small defective. What comes to your mind, shoes, the glasses, furniture and clothing are being sold here.

San Francisco is a mix of people from each country and each of them trying to do something with their culture. Chinese are built up a small China Town here. When you go to in side of the streets you really feel your self in China, sellers are Chinese and the buildings were constructed to the understanding of Chinese architecture. There are many kinds of Chinese products sold, so should visit this place. Those who want to see something different, a little more stylish brand products these are in sale in the Union Square. Even if you do not make purchases in stores here, maybe a nice long walk can be pleasant.

If you want to see something different and take photo of it I suggest you to go Lombart Street, the flowers open in the spring months. In this street you will see very high hill full of bends before you finish the one other is starts. Stopping there 20 minutes makes vertigo because of the car noises when they try to turn from bends. When you look at the view from the front side you see very interesting spiral colorful flowers. You can go from this street to The Victorian’s houses in Alamo Square, here in the Victorian style villas was built side by side, you can see the beautiful homes from the outside and a few pictures you can take. Houses were built between the years 1850 and 1840. Today, they are very well maintained and colorful painted. There is a nice park right in front of the houses there you can see all homes, even you can see San Francisco view. Another place to close here and absolutely you must go is Haight-Ashbury. This place like comes from 1960-1970 years hippies were here in these years. Today there are many stores for second-hand products, brand new and interesting film, music CD, VCD which you can’t find anywhere else but here and you can get cheaper then the other places. While you walk there people around you, clothes, old stores takes you somewhere out of today. You absolutely must see here.

That will be not a great tour if you don’t go to famous Golden Gate bridge of America. I was dreaming to pass from this bridge since I’m a little child. But I shoul say that there is no beautiful landscape like our bosphorus bridge in Turkey. After crossed the bridge, you can get some San Francisco photos from the Vista Point. On the other side of the bridge there is a small holiday town has a name Sausalito. Here are some people who lives in floating houses. This houses are very beautiful they are all made wooden, small and cute. Nice place to eat something, also some art galleries to be seen in the center of Sausalito. If you do not have a car you can go there by boat from Fishermen’s Wharf or from Embarcadero.

To see most colorful flags you should go to the location Castro which is at the Pacific Coast. In this area some people lives who made their desicion to live as a gay person. There are luxury houses in a pretty neighborhood. There is a way that gay people are using to show without any hesitate their choise. They put rainbow-colored flags on their windows. So you understand that a gay lives in that house. They feel so free to walk on the street hand in hand as a couple. So of course this is America the country of freedom, it seems this country taken another countries freedom and gives to their country.

America is a great country, even California is a great state therefore I can’t finish to write about it. I’m sure I forgot to tell you some places, there are a lot of beautiful places to see. Finally I want write about accomodation. There are wide variety of choices. The most expensive hotels or so cheap places to stay. Most cheapest places are hostels, but you should sleep in the same room with foreigners sometimes. The price around 10 $ per night to stay. Do not expect much cleaning there.
