Amasra
We had decided to go Amasra for October 29 holiday(which is celebration of been Turkey as republic). At that time there was no crisis and people could go on holiday therefore every place was full. We thought that we can come back home if we can’t find a place to stay. Before you go to Amasra there is a place to stop in the way and take Amasra’s photo. There is also a rock named “kus kayasi yol aniti”, there are also hazelnut and some fruits sellers. While you eat fruits you will watch beautiful panoramic view. Just we arrived to Amasra and stop the car, a lady approached us and said “Do you need a place to stay?” ofcourse we couldn’t believe it. The place where we stoped the car – as the name of Nedim’s place was a cafe – this is exactly the place of business for home rental. Many people who lives there they rent their house for the special holidays, such as hotels. We paid to her 100 usd for 7 persons at total, so 14 usd for each. Home was a bit cold but for one night it was ok.

After renting out the house we went Amasra tour. It is a small and pretty fishing town. Certainly an important part of the income they provide from tourism. History is based on very old time. It was a Phoenician port city once upon a time ago. Then the Persians, Romans, Byzantines, and then at the end Ottoman came and occupaid here so we still have it in our country land today. According to rumor when Fatih Sultan Mehmet (who is one of the famous Sultan of Ottoman Empire) came here together with his “Lala” first words was him “is here cesm-i cihan” which means eye of world. He deeply impress from the view. Amasra really have an interesting image. Some part of Amasra connected to land with a Roman bridge which name is Kamerdere. Even if the Roman soldiers insignificant figures can be seen on foot of bridge. After pass the bridge you see on the other side the ruins of old houses. We walked in the streets and take some photos. When you return to inside of Amasra you can visit “Cekiciler Bazaar”. Here you can find gift items and wooden handicrafts. Then we walked towards the castle. A fortress of the Roman period remain in Amasra castle, narrow streets while still in the inner belt of a Genoese Castle when we take to look inside we have seen houses which are belong to today. As a historian I do not only watching this mess, to do something else then watching, I took their photo to show these ugly buildings. To continue forward from the castle a small Chapel comes across. Today this building use as the mosque. Inside has interesting architecture and this still intact until today, apses is standing still in place, only the windows were opened as extra. There are also frescos were painted. You can see all Amasra in one day by walking. If the weather is nice you can make a boat tour to Rabbit Island, but while we been there the weather was not so good instead of going to island we climbed to the lighthouse and watched the rabbits from the tea garden. We had dinner at Lotis Restaurant which is on the sea side with live music and we ate fish and famous Amasra Salad. Specialty of the salad full of vegetables. Really delicious and the portions are very big. We just finished a day with music and chat.

The next morning we set out to go to a little more inside. We learned that there is a place the name is Kurucasile there is building small wooden boats in the small shipyards. While we go there we have seen great green

and small villages. First we watched Cakraz from the hill, and take a photo and a little breathing clean air then continued to road. Until go to Kurucasile there are 10 villages. Your preferences, you can go all of them and most of them 1-2 km to main artery. If you love nature, definitely should go there. We stopped to take a photo on the road and spent 2 hours there. Maybe the weather was sunny, maybe lay down to grass to take a photo of a mushroom, maybe there were sheeps, maybe at mountains wooden long fences and maybe just when I was taken the photo a young person came across or to come together all these things gave us more pleasure. It has taken to go Kurucasile long time. Normally between Amasra and Kurucasile is 60 km but we stopped everywhere, way didn’t end it for us. The places were beautiful then we expected, usually on the sea sides you can see nice places. That is why I encourage you to see every places. I wasn’t expecting to see big boats in Kurucasile. Shipyards mainly small individuals, but the size of the business are bigger then the shipyards. There a web site write more about Bartin and you can see the boat photos.
We had only 3 days, so we could seen some places if you have time you can visit Inkumu, Guzelcehisar and Gurcuoluk Cave.

Bence Amasra süper bir yer.
Aydın bey,
kesinlikle görülmeye değer bir yer fakat buraya gidildiğinde mutlaka civardaki yerleşim yerleride ziyaret edilmeli.
